Disregard my request for Townditch because I found it on the map. It is beyond the Golly.Wink

Can anyone tell me where Townditch is in Rossett. I think I could find it if I was there but I would like to find it on the map.
I would start by going to Burton Green and then go north somehow until I found it.

I have returned to live in Rossett after an absence of 26 years. During this time myself and my family have lived in Harrogate. When we moved to Harrogate we found that there was an area curiosly known as Rossett, interetingly All our children ended up going to Rossett Acre Primary http://www.rossettacre.n-yorks.sch.uk/ in Harrogate. It would like to understand the connection - this is potentially connected with one of the older houses in the south part of Harrogate called Rossett Manor. Thanks Jonathan

Further to my previous post (below), a bit of further ferreting around has revealed that in April 1931 a Catherine Wilkinson of 6 Waverely Crescent (who was born in 1908) married a Frederick MARTIN of Llay. Her father was Thomas Wilkinson, and a witness to the marriage was a Nora Wilkinson. Her age, father's name and witness name all stack up with the Thomas Wilkinson family I am researching (except that father Thomas's occupation is shown on her marriage certificate as ?motor driver' and not butcher).
I would be most interested to hear from any descendents of Frederick and Catherine Martin.

Hi Jasmine Amelia, Trevalyn hospital can be found @ 53.101590, -2.945205 on Google maps. It was, as you say a Maternity Hospital in those days and was later (Early 60's?) changed to a NHS care home for the elderly and has since been extended and converted to private residential apartments. These have not sold well (Market downturn?) and I think I am right in saying the developer is in some financial difficulty

Can anyone tell me about what I believe was called Trevalyn Manor which was used as a hospital when I was born in 1947 please? Is it still there now and could anyone let me know where so I can view on GOOGLE MAPS. Thank you

I was just checking out your lovely little town of which my mother was born and raised on Cromar cres(the Johnsons, my sweet grandparents Bert & Hilda). My aunt and cousins still live there today. I haven't been to Rossett in quite some time so your pictures brought back nice memories. I just love it over there and I hope to bring my husband and 3 children to show them were my Mom and family come from and the history your lovely town has. You should be proud of Rossett, it is such a beautiful place in Wales.

Does anyone with a long memory know of the family or descendents of Thomas Ledsham WILKINSON who ran a butchers shop in Rossett from the early 1920s? My grandfather was his elder brother and their father was another Thomas Ledsham Wilkinson of Chester.
My late mother was the butcher's niece, and she would tell of staying with them as a young girl and being put off somewhat by the slaughtering of beasts in their back yard.

The 1911 census has revealed my Great Grandmother living in Rossett as a housekeeper to the Edwards brothers (Grocers & Bakers) but does not give a street address. Where was their shop/bakery please? Thanks

Hello,
I hope someone can help me .
I have found in the 1911 census details of my Grandmother and her son (my father ) and his sister, and they are living at Burton Green School House,Nr Rosset. Her occupation is Head Teacher of the school which is council owned.Has anyone any knowledge of the school or pupils etc, a photo would be lovely.
Her name was Alice Anne Shearman and she was born 1874 in Gresford.
Many thanks for your time .
