I am researching the Brookfield family history on behalf of my sister-in-law Robyn (nee) Brookfield.
Her grandfather William Brookfield emigrated to Australia in 1900. I found the grave of his parents, David and Eliza Brookfield, in Rossett Church. I was intrigued to see some silk flowers on the grave, which suggests there may be some relatives still living in the area. I was unable fo find the graves of David's parents, William and Ann, who died in 1884 and 1890.

I would be most grateful if anyone can give me more information about this family. In particular Robyn would like to know why her grandfather emigrated, perhaps an older brother took over the farm?

I'm trying to trace (out of curiosity and nostalgia!) an old friend/work colleague who at one time lived in Rossett up to (at least, I guess) the end of the 1980s and who may even still be there or in the area (they used to live in Farndon). His is/was Bill Ellis (W T ELLIS) and wife Linda. They had at least one son (Gareth) and maybe another (Dan) but I can't quite remember. I'd be grateful if anyone could help. Thanks.

Does anyone have info on the Ackerley family.Elizabeth attended Pulford School (c) 1886 or the Wineyard family. The Ackerley's I believe lived at Daisy Farm.Is this still there? I have a post card of Church hall date around 1920's, is this still standing? Elizabeth I think worked at a hall anyone with ideas what hall. The date I'm guessing would be 1890's. Any info much Appreciated

I'm tracing my daughters family tree her father's side and would like to ask residents of Rossett who questions. I have a B/W photo of her great great grandmother who lived in Burton and would like to post the photo on your web page to see if the house in the pic could be identified.

I wrote about the lovely nurses training house in Rosset. I now remember the name of Strathalyn Hall. All comments would be most welcome on your very interesting site.

Webmaster: Anyone have information for Frances?
Can anyone help me? I was a nurse at the Maelor and War Memorial Hospitals in the 70's. I spent a few weeks of preliminary training at a beautiful stately house in Rosset on Chester Rd. which we nurses referred to as 'Plas' Was this a real name and does the building still stand? It must have been listed. Our Nurse Tutor was called Mrs.Jones and I believe she lived in Rosset. What happy memories of learning how to truly care for our patients before being let loose on the wards! I went on to nurse as an SRN and midwife for over 20 years.

re Stuart Whiles

These people are gypsies not itinerants. In fact you might as well call them 'professional gypsies'.
They are people who know and work the system, including planning regulations, collecting benefits whilst operating businesses etc and have solicitors who readily work for them because of the riches to be gained from legal aid during the long process of appeals against eviction which can take years.
Seeing the appeal process concerning the site at Daisy Lane might take up to 8-years I for one shall be contacting the Inland Revenue and Social Security Dept etc to make life uncomfortable for them because the travellers listed occupations like building and fencing, tarmacing, tree-cutting etc as their occupations on their 17-page planning application submitted to Wrexham Council.

It seems from the forum that Wrexham Council have denied permission to the travellers.
It will take a good while before they are eventually evicted but they'll have to leave in the end.
